- Added: pressing a workspace's number key now opens it for a quick
look — reveals its panes/notes and moves the cursor there —
without switching your actual active pane or window. Works on any
workspace, not just the one you're currently in. Press the same
number again once you're there to fold it back closed.
- Added: a new "Auto-focus empty pane's search" setting (off by
default) controls whether pressing Enter on an empty pane always
jumps real keyboard focus into its search box, even when "Keep focus
on navigator" is checked.
- Added: non-active workspaces now visibly recede — an expanded
one dims and shrinks slightly to read as clearly secondary, a
collapsed one recedes further into the background, and the active
workspace itself picks up a subtle drop shadow to read as raised
above the rest.
- Changed: the navigator's keyboard cursor is now two separate things
— a dashed "target" outline that moves as you browse the tree or
preview a workspace by number, and a solid highlight that marks
whichever pane is actually selected. Looking around no longer drags
the solid highlight away from the pane that's really selected.
- Changed: the selected-pane highlight is now a smaller, lighter tint
sized to its own text rather than a full-width bar, so it's easier to
tell apart from a workspace's own header bar at a glance.
- Changed: reordering a workspace (Alt+Shift+Up/Down), killing one
(Shift+D), renaming one, popping a pane out on its own (Space), and
zooming into a pane (f) now all act on wherever the target cursor
currently is, rather than requiring it to match the actually-selected
pane first.
- Fixed: switching between two workspaces, or toggling the dashboard
between thin and wide mode, while "Keep visible" was on could cause a
visible flash — a pane briefly snapping to full width and back
to make room for the docked navigator, even when its own size didn't
actually need to change. The pane you're switching away from is no
longer eagerly resized on the spot; it's corrected the next time you
actually switch back to it instead.
- Fixed: the navigator's target/selection outline could be hard to
see on some themes — especially light ones (Cloud, Advocate)
where the highlight color already sat close to the background to
begin with — now solved per-theme so it's reliably visible
everywhere.
- Fixed: reordering a workspace (Alt+Shift+Up/Down) while a different
pane was the one actually selected could leave the wrong pane
appearing selected afterward.
- Fixed: a pane with a very long name (a browser tab title can easily
run 60+ characters) could still nudge the whole navigator sideways
when the target cursor landed on it, even though the name itself
displayed correctly truncated with an ellipsis.
- Fixed: pressing
l/Right to reopen a folded workspace
could open the wrong one — it only ever searched backward from
the cursor for the nearest folded workspace, so one folded just below
the cursor could be skipped in favor of a different one further away
through the wraparound.
- Fixed: a workspace named "default" (or a decorated variant like
"🏠 Default" or "Default ✨") is now recognized as the
pinned home-base workspace regardless of any emoji or extra
characters around the name, matching the same stripped name its own
exported file would use.
- Changed: reworked the navigator tree's look — a workspace's
number is now a small circular badge, and dotted guide lines connect
it down to its panes, both sitting in their own quiet column to the
left of the colored workspace header and pane list rather than mixed
into the text itself.
- Changed: pane rows no longer show a bracketed index number —
it wasn't tied to anything (unlike a workspace's own number, still
used by the quick-jump digit keys).
- Changed: the selected-pane highlight is now a softer tint of the
theme's own accent color, easier to tell apart from the workspace
header's own fill at a glance.
- Changed: the dashboard now uses a standard system UI font on Slate,
Sepia, and all 16 brand themes, matching how most modern dashboard
tools render their own text. The two CRT-styled themes (Current,
Tempered Terminal) keep their monospace look.
- Changed: in thin mode, rows are left-aligned, each workspace shows
its number, and pressing a digit key now jumps straight to and
switches to that workspace.
- New: Settings now shows a small color swatch next to the current
theme's name.
- Fixed: the workspace-number badge could be nearly invisible on a
couple of themes (most noticeably Advocate) where the accent color
sat too close in brightness to the background behind it.
- Fixed: the navigator's own corner icon (thin mode) no longer
renders as a plain, near-black shape on themes with a dark text
color — it now picks up a blend of that theme's own accent
color instead.
- New: a persistent link queue. Right-click any link and choose "Yank
Link to Queue" — or press
Shift+Y on a pane
already open in a workspace — to save its URL for later without
leaving what you're doing. Press Shift+P to browse the
queue: move with j/k or the arrow keys,
filter by typing /, press Enter to drop the
selected link into whichever pane you have selected, or
d to remove one you don't need.
- New: queue entries can show the linked page's real title and a
thumbnail image, fetched in the background. This is opt-in —
turn on "Prefetch queue previews" in Settings and it'll ask for a
one-time permission the first time. Off, or declined, entries just
show their raw URL and nothing is fetched.
- New: press
w on a pane to switch it between a normal
tabbed browser window and a borderless popup window.
- New: right-click a link and choose "Open link in New Cro-Muxon
Workspace (background)" to open it in its own workspace without
switching away from what you're doing.
- New: a full keyboard-shortcuts reference inside the dashboard
itself, opened with the new
? icon.
- New:
Shift+D closes an entire workspace (every pane in
it) at once, behind a confirmation prompt first.
- New: 16 additional color themes, organized into four browsable
categories, plus a new visual picker for trying them out before
switching — replaces the old dropdown entirely.
- New: the dashboard now reopens automatically after a reload, if it
was already open beforehand.
- Fixed: reloading the extension while a workspace or note popup was
open could occasionally leave dead, empty windows behind.
- Fixed: some browser shortcuts (Cmd/Ctrl combinations like zoom,
reload, new tab, bookmark, or find) were occasionally swallowed by
the dashboard's own keyboard shortcuts.
- Fixed: the brand icon didn't match lighter color themes correctly.
- Fixed: a handful of smaller bugs around switching a pane's window
type, creating a workspace in the background, and zooming a pane
with a note while "Show all notes" was on.
- New: press
a on the pane under the cursor to give it a
short alias — a label that replaces its tab title in the
dashboard list, handy when the real page title is long or unhelpful.
- New: press
Shift+A to annotate the pane under the
cursor — a small floating note docked over its corner, saving
as you type. Reopening it shows whatever you already wrote instead of
starting blank.
- New:
f (and Space) now show that note as
a read-only strip right under the pane when you zoom in for a closer
look, so it's there for context, not just for editing. A pane with no
note zooms exactly as before, full size.
- New: a pane with a note shows a small † marker in the
dashboard list, so reminders on a workspace you just imported are
easy to spot at a glance.
- New: closing the annotation popup now returns you to the
dashboard, instead of leaving focus wherever it happened to land.
- New: in thin mode, a workspace named starting with an emoji shows
just that emoji instead of the full name — the strip is narrow
enough that the rest would usually get cut off anyway.
- New Theme setting (gear icon, or
c): switch between
"Tempered Terminal" (a softer, desaturated green), "Slate" (a
neutral dark theme with a single accent color), or the original CRT
green. Slate is now the default for new installs and anyone who
hasn't already changed this — the classic green is one click
away in Settings. Changes apply immediately.
- New: hovering a pane in the dashboard list now shows a subtle
highlight.
- Changed:
Space now shrinks the dashboard down to its
narrow strip before popping up the pane under the cursor, instead of
leaving the full-width list open behind it.
- Changed: reopening the dashboard while it's in its narrow "thin"
mode now snaps it back to full width automatically.
- Changed: exporting a workspace no longer stamps a timestamp onto
the filename — exporting the same workspace again now overwrites
its file, behind a confirmation prompt that shows the filename first.
- Changed: simplified the empty-pane start page — larger text,
it now follows your chosen Theme instead of always being the
original CRT green, and the keyboard shortcuts list is tucked behind
a small toggle instead of always taking up space. Pressing Enter
there now always returns you to the search box, and the small corner
icon for opening the dashboard is gone —
Alt+Shift+C
still opens it from anywhere.
- Changed: Slate's selected-pane highlight is now a solid,
high-contrast fill instead of a faint tint that was easy to miss.
- New: choosing an empty pane in the dashboard now always jumps
focus onto it regardless of "Keep focus on navigator" — its
only real content is its own search box, so landing there without
focus wasn't useful. Every other pane still respects the setting.
- Fixed: an update landing while the dashboard (or an annotation
popup) was open could leave the old window behind as an empty,
broken frame.
- Fixed: the empty-pane start page's "Keyboard shortcuts" toggle
didn't actually show or hide anything, and the list is now one
shortcut per line instead of a two-column layout that wrapped some
entries awkwardly.
- Fixed: right-clicking the empty-pane start page showed no context
menu at all. It's an ordinary pane like any other, so it now gets
the same right-click menu (split, close, open navigator) as any
other pane.
- Fixed: the empty-pane auto-focus behavior added in 1.1.0 was too
broad. It now only applies to pressing Enter on an empty pane in the
full-width dashboard — clicking a pane, and anything in thin
mode, respect "Keep focus on navigator" like every other pane again.
- Fixed: the read-only annotation strip (
f/Space,
shown under a zoomed pane) looked exactly like an editable text box
but silently ignored anything typed into it. It's now genuinely
editable and saves as you type, just like the Shift+A
popup.
- New: press
Space on the pane under the cursor to zoom
it, same as f, but always jump real focus onto it
afterward regardless of "Keep focus on navigator" — the
default, unambiguous way to jump into a pane.
- New: right-click a link on any page — "Open link in New
Cro-Muxon workspace" opens it straight into a fresh workspace,
skipping the copy-then-paste round trip, and brings the navigator
into view with the new pane already selected.
- New: right-click any page for mouse equivalents of split
vertically, split horizontally, close pane, and open navigator
— each item shows its keyboard shortcut too. Right-click the
dashboard itself for its own menu: new workspace, import/export the
current workspace, fold/unfold every workspace at once, and close
navigator.
- New:
Alt+Shift+Up/Alt+Shift+Down (or
Alt+Shift+K/Alt+Shift+J) in the dashboard
reorders the workspace under the cursor, swapping it with its
neighbor one slot up/down. A workspace named "default" stays pinned
to the top slot.
- Fixed: closing the dashboard while a pane was zoomed left it stuck
at its near-fullscreen zoomed size. Every way the dashboard can
close now un-zooms it too.
- New thin mode: press
t to shrink the dashboard to a
narrow strip of just workspace names — a lightweight
quick-switcher you can leave open at the edge of the screen instead
of opening and closing the full dashboard each time.
- New "Keep visible" setting (gear icon, or
c) shrinks
the active workspace's rightmost pane(s) just enough that the
dashboard is never covered by them in the first place. Settings is
modal while open: v/f toggle "Keep
visible"/"Keep focus on navigator" directly, z rotates
zoom padding through a few presets (live if a pane is currently
zoomed), and everything else dims and pauses until you close it.
Alt+Shift+C now focuses the dashboard first if it's
open but not the focused window, instead of always closing it —
a second press closes it once it's already focused.- New: press
f — or click an already-active pane
— to zoom it to fill most of the screen without touching your
actual layout. Press Esc, or click it again, to snap it
right back.
- New:
y/p yank a pane's URL and put it
into another pane, without switching to either one.
- New:
d blanks the pane under the cursor back to the
empty-pane start page, whatever it currently has open.
- New "Keep focus on navigator" setting: when on, actions like
p and d update a pane in the background
instead of briefly switching to it first.
h/j/k/l now
work as vim-style navigation throughout the dashboard, alongside
the arrow keys./ live-filters the pane list as you type, by pane
title or workspace name.- Click a workspace's header to collapse it out of the way;
Shift+M/Shift+O fold or unfold every
workspace at once.
Shift+D closes every pane in the selected workspace
at once. Shift+↑/Shift+↓ jumps
to the previous/next workspace instead of stepping pane by pane,
and a number key jumps straight to a given workspace.- Your layout now survives a full browser restart on its own, not
just a crash.
- Fresh, empty panes now open a small start page with a working
search box and quick access to the dashboard, instead of Chrome's
